Questions to Ask
Is it important that I higher a company that provides workman's compensation benefits to their employees?
ABSOLUTELY. Most states require companies with more than two employees to provide the benefit, however, don't take that for granted. Some unscrupulous companies will avoid paying the benefit to keep costs down which could be opening you up to a lawsuit if an employee gets hurt while on your premises.
How long have you been in business?
The answer can speak volumes about a company’s reputation and experience. Ayoub Carpet Service has been in business since 1952. That's nearly 60 years of experience!
Do you offer a guarantee?
A professional and reputable company will always have a guarantee. They will vary by
company, but may include points such as, “if the spot comes back, so will we.” Ultimately,
you want to be satisfied with what you pay for and make sure your carpet cleaner allows that
to happen.
Ayoub Carpet Service has been known as the carpet and rug
experts in the Washington DC metro area. Your satisfaction is our guarantee — or your
money back.
Is the company IICRC Certified?
What's the importance of the IICRC? The International Institute of Cleaning and Restoration Certification is a non-profit certification organization that helps ensure consumers have access to trusted and trained cleaning professionals by establishing and monitoring certification programs and standards for these industries.
To qualify for IICRC-Certified Firm status businesses must demonstrate proof of insurance, maintain a written customer complaint policy with documented follow-up and provide ongoing education and training leading to certification for all technicians. IICRC Certified Firms are also required to abide by the IICRC Code of Ethics. Services provided by IICRC–Certified professionals range from flooring inspection and cleaning to mold remediation to water and fire damage restoration.
Regular professional cleaning using a Certified Firm is as important to your carpet as having a trained mechanic perform routine tune-ups on your car. While your carpet may appear clean on the surface, periodic cleaning by a certified technician can remove what you can't see and help your carpet retain its fresh, beautiful appearance. Locate a Certified Firm.
Is the carpet cleaning company's coupon "too good to be true?"
Bait-and-switch operators are prevalent in many industries, and the carpet cleaning industry is no exception. This does not mean though, that all carpet cleaners are rip-off artists. But how do you know who is, and who is not? The professional carpet cleaning industry has cited these scam activities as a major industry concern, and is taking action to help eliminate unprofessional workmanship and unethical tactics. A leader in the campaign is The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) (see above), which certifies cleaners who meet prescribed levels of technical proficiency and pledge to operate by a "Code of Ethics". To help educate consumers so they will not become victims of fraudulent practices within the cleaning industry, the IICRC has released a list of guidelines to consider when selecting a carpet cleaner.
What is your cleaning method?
There are dry and wet methods. See Methods of Cleaning Carpet for more details. The wet method, also known as steam cleaning or hot water extraction, is the preferred method and is RECOMMENDED BY MOST CARPET MANUFACTURERS AND FIBER PRODUCERS. Unlike the dry method, hot water extraction relies less on chemicals and scrubbing and relies mainly
on heat, pressure and vacuum. Before the extraction process begins, the
appropriate cleaning solution (determined by fiber type and degree of soiling)
is applied to the carpet. After the application, the carpet is gently agitated
with a specialized carpet groomer to disperse the cleaning solution deep into
the pile. The solution is left to dwell for several minutes before the carpet is
thoroughly flushed and rinsed using the extraction process. This method is
proven, in most cases, to be the most thorough cleaning process. The
advantages are that it cleans more thoroughly than other methods and uses less
chemicals.
Do you provide references?
Referrals are generally the best way to find a good carpet cleaner. If you can’t get a
good referral, you may want to start with the Better Business Bureau, Washington Consumers’
Checkbook Magazine or Angie’s List. Ayoub Carpet Service receives consistent, top-ratings among all of these consumer agencies.
Does the company clean responsibly, using safe cleaning agents that are not
harmful to people, pets and the environment?
Ayoub Carpet Service cleans responsibly. We use non-toxic, biodegradeable and hypo-allergenic cleaning products that are environmentally safe, pet-safe and kid-safe. We dispose of waste water accordance to local and federal regulations. We NEVER use recycled water - only fresh water for cleaning.
