Most Oriental rugs are hand or machine woven with cotton, silk or wool foundations. The pile is usually comprised of wool, but sometimes silk or other material dyed with vegetable or synthetic dyes. Mothproofing:
If your rug has been rolled up or stored for an extended length of time, consider having it cleaned and mothproofed. A dirty rug can attract wool-eating insects.

The Ayoub Area Rug Cleaning Procedure:

Inspect all areas of every carpet prior to cleaning.
Dust rugs while dry to remove soils.
Pre-treat any oil, grease, or other stains.
Immerse rugs in cold water. This loosens and suspends soils trapped deep within the rugs.
Hand shampoo with cleaning detergents approved by Wools of New Zealand.
Hand scrub soiled fringes.
Thoroughly rinse all soils and detergents out of rugs with cold water.
Remove rinse water with high volume vacuum water extractor.
Apply conditioning agents as needed, groom nap and dry in climate controlled drying room.
Conduct and complete final inspection of rugs for maximum results.
