How do I clean-up spots and spills at home?
No one likes it when there is a spill on the floor, but with the help of the CRI, Carpet and Rug Institute, it can be cleaned before becoming a permanent part of the carpet. Click here to find out how you can properly deal with spills at home and keep your carpet clean for years to come.
How long will it take for my carpet to
dry?
When done properly and good air flow after cleaning, wall
to wall carpeting should dry to the touch in 4 – 6 hours
but may take up to 24 hours for all humidity to evaporate.
Carpets should never be soaking wet through the backing. The
face fibers will feel slightly damp to the touch. (The application
of a topical treatment such as; a de-contaminant or a fabric
protector may add to the drying time.)
How often should I clean?
Wall to wall carpet, upholstery and Oriental rugs will each
need a different schedule of cleaning according to the use.
Generally speaking, carpet should be cleaned somewhere between
6 – 12 months for the average household. Upholstered
furniture should be cleaned somewhere between 18 – 36
months. And finally, Oriental rugs should be cleaned somewhere
between 1 – 5 years. Obviously, it is impossible to
give an exact time frame on cleaning because of the usage
and maintenance of each household will vary.

Are protectors required after every cleaning?
No. Fabric protectors are usually applied by the mills during
the manufacturing process and will usually last 3 –
5 years. However, protectors can eventually wear off the fiber
which would expose it to the damaging effects of soils and
spills. The dry soils can scratch the surface of the fiber
and cause it to be more vulnerable to staining, re-soiling
and premature wear. Always discuss with the technician whether
or not the original protector is still effective and if a
topical applicationof Dupont Teflon protectant is needed.
(A fabric protector can help slow down the rapid absorption
rate of Oriental rugs made from wool).
What do I need to do to have my wall to
wall carpet cleaned?
When opening your doors to a service company it can be intimidating,
inconvenient, a hassle, and a lot of work. We recognize this
and try to make your carpet cleaning experience as painless
as possible. However, we could use a little of your help in
order to make things go as easy as possible and get the most
effective cleaning. We ask that your carpet be vacuumed before
the technicians arrive, pickup all small objects from the
floor and remove and secure all breakables from furniture
that you would like us to move and clean underneath.
How long will it take to get my Oriental
rug back from cleaning?
Aside from any special requests by the customer, the turn
around time is usually 7 – 10 days.
Any repairs may add to the time needed for completion.
Do you clean all Oriental rugs the same?
NO! Oriental rugs come in many different combinations of fibers
and construction and must be cared for by experts in a facility
designed to accommodate all types of rugs. Most rugs can be
cleaned using our hand-washed rug cleaning process.
*Rugs made out of delicate fabrics such as silk are washed with a special
low-moisture cleaning process.
What is the best method for wall to wall
carpet cleaning?
In most cases, a truck-mounted hot water extraction process
is going to give you the most thorough cleaning with the least
amount of chemicals used. This has been proven over and over
by most carpet manufacturers. With that said, it is important
to understand that equipment and the process is not the only
factors to achieve the most effective cleaning. Highly trained
technicians both by the IICRC and on-going company training
must be the number one priority when hiring a service company.
No matter how good the equipment may be, the result is only
as good as the technicians that perform the service.
How much do you charge?
Wall to wall carpet cleaning is usually calculated by the
square foot. Upholstery cleaning is done by the piece. Charges
for Oriental and area rug cleaning vary according to rug classification
and size. Estimates can be given over the phone based on information
you provide to us.
Can you guarantee to get stains and odors
out?
No. Stains and odors caused by spills, contaminants, dyes
and inks on synthetic fibers can be challenging. Even more
challenging are stains and odors on natural fibers. The reason
it is difficult to remove ALL stains and odors from a fabric
or a textile is that harsh chemicals can be very harmful to
the fiber and cause even further damage. In most cases, simple
odors or spots can be resolved with a good cleaning, a light
de-contaminant or a spot remover without causing any adverse
effects. Cat and dog urine are some of the most complex stains
and odors to remove. Remember. Spots and spills can become
permanent; therefore it is important to tend to them immediately
for maximum removal.
