Persian, Turkish and other Oriental rugs differ greatly in their method of construction, fiber composition and dye intensity. At Ayoub Carpet Service, we have been cleaning Bethesda's Oriental rugs since 1952 and we understand these differences. That is why we use the most advanced in–plant cleaning processes available, and adapt our methods to suit each individual rug. Combining our traditional hand cleaning and repair techniques with the latest technology provides the best way to take care of your fine floor coverings.

Most Oriental rugs are hand or machine woven with cotton, silk or wool foundations. The pile is usually comprised of wool, or sometimes silk or other material dyed with vegetable or synthetic dyes. True experts, like our Ayoub Carpet Service IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) certified rug cleaning technicians have received extensive training and they recognize the complexities of your rugs.

Mothproofing
If your rug has been rolled up or stored for an extended length of time, you may want to consider having it cleaned and mothproofed. A dirty rug can attract wool-eating insects.

The Ayoub Ten Step Rug Cleaning Procedure:

    1. Inspect all areas of every carpet prior to cleaning.
    2. Dust rugs while dry to remove loose soils.
    3. Pre-treat all oil and grease stains.
    4. Immerse rugs in cold water. Immersion loosens and suspends soils trapped deep within the rugs.
    5. Hand shampoo with special rug detergents approved by Wools of New Zealand.
    6. Hand scrub soiled fringes.
    7. Thoroughly rinse all soils and detergents from rugs with cold water.
    8. Remove rinse water with high volume vacuum water extractor.
    9. Apply conditioning agents as needed, groom nap and dry in climate controlled drying room.
    10. Conduct and complete final inspection of rugs for maximum results.
