Fine area rugs are generally hand or machine woven on cotton, silk or wool foundations. The pile is usually wool dyed with vegetable or synthetic dyes. True experts, like Ayoub Carpet Service Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification certified rug cleaning technicians, recognize the minor variations in rugs which may indicate the requirement for different cleaning treatments.

Has your rug has been rolled up and/or stored away for an extended period of time? You should consider having your rug be cleaned and mothproofed. A dirty rug can attract wool-eating pests.

The Ayoub Ten Step Rug Cleaning Procedure:

    1. Thoroughly inspect all carpets prior to cleaning.
    2. Dust rugs while dry to remove loose soils and dust.
    3. Pre-treat any oil or grease stains or spots.
    4. Immerse rugs in cold water to loosen and suspend soils trapped deep within the pile or foundation.
    5. Hand shampoo with cleaning detergents approved by the Wools of New Zealand.
    6. Hand scrub soiled fringes.
    7. Completely rinse all soils and detergents out of rugs with cold water.
    8. Remove most moisture with high volume water extractor.
    9. Apply conditioning agents as needed, groom nap and dry in climate controlled drying room.
    10. Final inspection of rugs for maximum results.

Falls Church, Virginia had a population estimated at 10,400 in 2000 which grew to approximately 11,000 by 2007, and a median household income of just under $75,000. Falls Church has a long history going back to colonial times. It is named for the Episcopal church located at Lee Highway and Washington Street. The Falls Church was established in 1734 along the main north south road leading to Great Falls. Like Alexandria, Falls Church an independent town in Virginia, not belonging to a county. It is served by two metro stations, East Falls Church and West Falls Church/UVA/VT, which are on the Orange line. Much of the area known as Falls Church, Virginia and carrying that postal address is actually in Fairfax County.
