Tips to Remove Salt Stains From Hardwood Flooring

First thing’s first – Sweep sidewalks and remove shoes when entering your home. This will help avoid or reduce salt from staining your floor.

1.) Vacuum floors thoroughly. Salt and sand are micro-abrasives and can ruin the finish on your floors if not removed properly.

2.) In a bucket, mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar to 1 gallon of warm water.

3.) Avoid using too much water when cleaning. Too much moisture can cause the floor to swell and warp which will ruin it. Use a sponge mop (with a spring type wringer) or a white rag that is thoroughly rung out. Wipe down your floors – if done correctly, your floors should be dry in under a minute.

4.) For a more thorough cleaning, call ACS®. We offer Hardwood Floor Cleaning & Hardwood Sanding & Refinishing.
